The American bald eagle has graced the reverse of Gold Eagle Coins since their debut in 1986. The eagle is a symbol deeply rooted in American history, revered by Native American cultures long before becoming the national symbol of the U.S. Its flight, soaring higher than any other bird, represents spiritual elevation and freedom.
All of the 2025 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins we offer are in Mint State 69 condition. These coins have full mint luster and only two minor imperfections, which may include light marks or hairlines outside the focal design area. First Strike coins were submitted for grading within 30 days of their release from the mint.
On the obverse of this 2025 American Gold Eagle is Lady Liberty, a design created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 for the $20 Double Eagle coin. This vision of Lady Liberty is full of grace and strength, as she holds a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, with the Capitol building at her feet.
The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Eagle Coin features the American bald eagle, redesigned in 2020 by Jennie Norris. The eagle’s head appears in left-profile relief, representing the power and unity of the nation.
