Description

1925 Peace Silver Dollar PCGS MS67

The 1925 Peace Dollar had a high mintage level, though lower than the first several years in the series. With 10.198 million coins struck at Philadelphia, these coins are well represented in the modern era in terms of surviving specimens. However, their numbers quickly become scarce at higher Mint State grades. The MS67 certification is particularly scarce, with only 239 coins earning this grade, and the PCGS cites only 35 coins in total with a higher grade. Right now, the 1925 Peace Silver Dollar in Mint State 67 condition is available.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective plastic slab!
  • 5th coin in the Peace Dollar Series!
  • Produced by the Philadelphia Mint!
  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • Bears a face value of $1 (USD).
  • Issued a Grade of Mint State 67 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • The obverse features Lady Liberty.
  • On the reverse is the American bald eagle.

This 1925 Peace Silver Dollar is a Mint State 67 specimen. Coins at this grade tend to exhibit above-average luster with only three or four minuscule contact marks, one or two of which may be in the prime focal areas. No hairlines are visible on MS67 coins without the aid of magnification. This particular 1925 Peace Dollar showcases an exceptional luster.

Peace Silver Dollars were the final silver dollars the US Mint produced in large volumes for circulation use. These coins are 90% silver specimens that have a balance of 10% copper in the metallic alloy. Peace Silver Dollars were largely used in the American West in the 1920s and 1930s, where silver dollars were still preferred for both currency and in the region’s early casino boom.

The obverse of 1925 Peace Dollar Coins has a portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the image shows Liberty in left-profile relief with a towering crown of light on her head. Notably, these were the last silver dollars with a portrait of Liberty.

On the reverse of 1925 Peace Silver Dollars, you will find a depiction of the American bald eagle. Also created by de Francisci, this image shows the bald eagle at rest as it sits on a rock ledge. With its back to the viewer and wings folded at its side, the eagle gazes off toward the rays of sunlight in the distance.
