This beautiful 1995 Proof platinum 1/2oz Koala coin is struck in 999.5 platinum, presented in a wooden box from the Perth Mint.

Australian Platinum Koalas were introduced in 1988, and at the time, there were few options available to investors in terms of platinum bullion. The series would not gain the notoriety of the American Platinum Eagle or Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf, it was nonetheless popular.

Platinum Koalas were the first Perth Mint coins to feature new reverse designs each year, with weights available at first that included 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options. Later, Perth Mint would add 1 Kilo, 10 oz, and 2 oz coins to the series.
