They are also delivered in a gorgeous display box along with a certificate of authenticity. This will confirm the year of the issue! You will be impressed to know that each of them boasts an impressive composition of 91.67% actual gold content, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
For the obverse field of the 2002-W 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set, all of the coins feature the image of Lady Liberty. This design was curated by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. He had been commissioned by President Roosevelt to forge a new design for American gold coinage. He ended up coming up with the depiction of Liberty striding confidently forward into an unknown future with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The torch represents a beacon of hope and guidance while the olive branch is America’s offering of peace and friendship with others.
For the reverse field of the 2002-W 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set, all of the coins are engraved with the family of American bald eagles. They are featured in their nest while the female bald eagle keeps an eye on her young hatchlings. Overhead, her male counterpart guards all of them fiercely. This iconic depiction of American Eagles was forged in 1986 by Miley Busiek.
