2012 5 oz ATB Hawaii Volcanoes Silver Coin NGC MS69 PL

The America the Beautiful Quarters series is the U.S. Mint’s tribute to some of the most iconic American landmarks in each state. The 14th installment in this series is the 2012 5 oz ATB Hawaii Volcanoes Silver Coin, a prized piece for collectors and investors that celebrates the wild beauty of Hawaii’s last active volcano in mid-eruption.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives inside its own NGC protective plastic slab!
  • The 4th release of 2012 in the popular America the Beautiful 5 oz bullion series from the U.S. Mint!
  • Limited availability of certified coins!
  • Contains 5 oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Bears a face value of a quarter dollar (USD) backed by the American government.
  • Mint State 69 grades from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Proof-like coins.
  • The reverse side carries an image of an eruption on Kilauea Volcano’s eastern rift.
  • The obverse shows a classic profile portrait of George Washington.

The product of seventy million years of geological evolution, the Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes comprise a complicated and fascinating wild landscape that’s preserved in the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. This is a major feature of one of the world’s most geographically isolated island chains. It’s one of the striking and iconic national landmarks celebrated by the limited mintages of the America the Beautiful Quarters from the U.S. Mint.

JM Bullion ships the 2102 ATB Hawaii Volcanoes Silver Coin in its own individual protective plastic slab from the NGC. A fully-struck coin with the satiny luster of a proof-like finish, it makes a charming gift for special occasions and is a valuable addition to any collection. These Mint State 69 specimens exhibit full, original mint luster and have a maximum of two minor flaws. These flaws must be located outside the primary focal points and are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.

The majestically detailed artwork of Kilauea in eruption on the coin’s reverse side was designed in consultation with representatives of the National Park. The reverse also carries the inscriptions “Hawaii Volcanoes,” “Hawaii,” “2012,” and “E Pluribus Unum.”

The coin’s obverse side bears a profile portrait of America’s first President, familiar from the nation’s circulation quarter over the course of the last eighty years and designed in 1932 by John Flanagan, a celebration of the bicentennial birthday of George Washington. It also carries the inscriptions “United States of America,” “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “Quarter Dollar.”
