2014 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
American Gold Eagle Coins enjoyed renewed interest in the 2010s as a result of the Great Recession. The global recession impacted markets in every nation around the world and drove more demand for safe–haven metals. Though the recession eased as the 2010s went along, uncertainty continued to impact gold demand and kept interest in Gold Eagles strong overall. Today, 2014 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available online.

In 2014, demand was down for each of the weights in the series compared to the 2013 release. The 1 oz Gold Eagle suffered the greatest drop in demand year-over-year, with its 2014 issue falling by more than 300,000 coins from the previous year. The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle had the lowest drop in demand at just 10,000 fewer coins and finished as the highest-minted coin in the series in 2014.
All 2014 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available with individual plastic flips. The 2010s presented an interesting ebb and flow in demand. The 1 oz Gold Eagles soared in 2009 and 2010, before dropping through 2011 and 2012. The years to come saw a spike in 2013, a drop in 2014, and steady gains through 2016 until the series entered a long decline from 2017 to 2019.
On the obverse of 2014 American Gold Eagles is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the $20 Gold Double Eagle and shows the full-length figure of Liberty in front-facing relief. She carries a torch in her right hand, an olive branch in the left hand, and is surrounded by a ring of stars. The background field is filled by sun rays and includes the U.S. Capitol Building.
The reverse side of the 2014 1 oz Gold Eagle Coin comes with Miley Busiek’s beautiful depiction of an American bald eagle family. The design shows a male eagle soaring over the nest as a female eagle guards over hatchlings.
