The 2018 one ounce proof gold Krugerrand. The coin is supplied in an attractive box, complete with certificate of authenticity from the South African Mint.

The obverse (front) of the coin depicts former South African president Paul Kruger.

The gold Krugerrand is a 22–carat gold coin. It contains 1oz of pure gold, but the coins actually weigh slightly heavier than most one ounce gold coins because it also features a fractional amount of copper to give it a distinct colour, and as such it is slightly thicker than 1oz coins which are 24-carat.

These coins are still classed as legal tender by the South African government and are issued by the South African Reserve Bank. They are struck to proof quality by using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks for the striking process.
