The reverse face of 2019 10 oz British Silver Queen’s Beast Unicorn Coins features the image of the Unicorn of Scotland. The creature was once viewed as wild, strong, and fierce, but when used in heraldry the unicorn is a symbol of purity and innocence. The Unicorn of Scotland came to the Royal Arms of England through James I, the man who united the crowns of England and Scotland. The design here features the Unicorn supporting the royal coat of Scotland as adopted by Scottish king Alexander III. It features a rampant lion on the shield.
