The United States Mint launched 2021 Gold Eagle coining using the original Miley Busiek design on the reverse. From late 2020 when production started until summer 2021, the US Mint released 2021 Gold Eagles known as Type 1 versions to distinguish between the upcoming redesign.
With the refreshed reverse visual now in production, the 2021 American Eagle Gold Coin is available in what is known as the Type 2 release. These coins have the new bald eagle visual on the reverse that was created by Jennie Norris.
Lady Liberty is found on the obverse of 2021 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins. This design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens shows Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The design elements such as the stars, sun rays, torch, and Capitol building have all been enhanced with this release in an effort to bring the design closer to Saint-Gaudens’ 1907 creation.
An American bald eagle is featured on the reverse side of the 2021 American Gold Eagle. This new design captures the power and beauty of the aerial predator, with incredible detail in the physical features of the bird’s head.
These 2021 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins earned a perfect Mint State 70 grade from the PCGS. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws. The First Day of Issue label means the coins were received by the PCGS within 24 hours of the US Mint’s release.
