Produced by the Mexican Mint, the longest-running mint in the Western Hemisphere, Mexican Libertad bullion coins were first issued during the 1980s. The series includes both gold and silver coins and pays tribute to the classic design of the 1921 Gold Centenario. Today, 2025 1 Kilo Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available.

Mexican Libertad Coins feature the national coat of arms on the obverse field. The foundational symbol that would eventually become Mexico’s national coat of arms first appeared in the 1534 Codex Mendoza, a colonial document that recorded Aztec tribute and history for Spanish administrators. The earliest version depicted the legendary founding of Tenochtitlan, showing an eagle perched on a cactus growing from a stone, with the bird grasping a snake in its beak.

All 2025 1 Kilo Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available in protective acrylic capsules. The largest coin in the Silver Libertad Series was introduced in 2008. The coin was issued annually through 2012, with a halt in 1 Kilo Silver Libertad production coming in 2013 and 2014. The coin resumed production in 2014 and has been available annually since that time.

On the obverse of 2025 Mexican Silver Libertads, collectors will find Mexico’s official coat of arms. This image features a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, with a serpent grasped in its beak and talons. For 1 oz and larger silver coins, ten historical versions of the seal are also displayed in a circular formation around the central design.

The reverse of the 2025 1 Kilo Silver Libertad includes the Winged Victory design. Introduced to the Silver Libertad lineup in 1996, this version shows Victory in a three-quarter portrait as she stands atop the Independence Victory Column in Mexico City.
