Pixiu are often depicted in Chinese art in pairs. The creatures have the body of a lion with the head of a dragon, China’s most revered mythological being. When depicted in pairs, the Pixiu represent both male and female. Each individual in the duo represents different characteristics. You can often tell the difference between the two as the female has two antlers and the male has only one antler.
When it comes to the types of Pixiu, the female is known as Bixi and the male as Tianlu. The female of the species is responsible for warding off evil spirits and can help people who are suffering from bad feng shui. The male is in charge of wealth and is sent out into the world in search of gold, silver, and other forms wealth. The male brings this wealth home to the female, who is then responsible for guarding it.
Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse of 2021 1 oz Australian Guardian Lions Double Pixiu Gold Coin. Her Majesty features here in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. This image was created for the Royal Mint of England by Jody Clark in 2015 and appears on Australian coins as the sixth-generation portrait.
Two Pixiu are shown in the reverse design of 2021 Australian Guardian Lions Double Pixiu Gold Coins. The Pixiu are seated side-by-side atop a pile of ancient Chinese coins, with one grasping a ball and the other a Pixiu club. There is a stylized border design around the element.
These 2021 1 oz Australian Guardian Lions Double Pixiu Gold Coins are available to you for purchase in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins come with an individual protective capsule to house the specimen.
