Description
1898-S Morgan Silver Dollar PCGS MS66
The Morgan Silver Dollar was struck by the US Mint at a total of five branch mints in its history, with the San Francisco Mint often one of the highest–volume producers. The 1898–S is notable for its relatively low mintage 4.102 million coins. Serious collectors view the 1898-S as a valuable collectible piece due to the scarcity of specimens with high mint state grades. This particular 1898-S is one of only 106 graded this high by the PCGS, with only a scant 20 coins earning a higher grade. Today, the 1898-S Morgan Silver Dollar in MS66 condition is available.

From the outset of Morgan Silver Dollar production, the San Francisco Mint was a main player in the production of the coins for the United States. In fact, the Philadelphia and San Francisco branch mints were the only locations to strike the coins every year from 1878 to 1904 and in 1921.
This 1898-S Morgan Silver Dollar is available in Mint State 66 condition. The coin has above-average surface and mint luster with three or four minor, noticeable contact marks, with a few in the primary focal areas. Hairlines, if present, are only visible under magnification.
On the obverse of the 1898-S Morgan Dollar Coin is a bust of Lady Liberty. This image shows Liberty in left-profile relief. She is flanked on either side by stars, totaling 13 in all, with the Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and laurel wreath on her head.
The reverse of 1898-S Morgan Silver Dollars boasts the image of the heraldic eagle. This design shows the eagle in front-facing relief as it looks to its right, the viewer’s left, and clutches the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in its talons.
