The United States Mint produces a wide range of American Eagle Coins each year. The gold coins come in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights, as well as bullion, proof, and uncirculated versions. In addition, there are four different options for metal types: gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, each with its own unique designs.

These 1/2 oz versions of American Gold Eagle Coins have been produced since 1986, the debut year of all American Gold Eagle Coins. Other versions of American Eagles have been released at various times since 1986.

On the obverse, Lady Liberty is seen striding forward, seemingly off the face of the coin. The sun is at her back, and she is carrying a flaming torch and an olive branch. The design was adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Gold Double Eagle design, which was created in 1907.

The reverse design is that of a male bald eagle returning to his nest with an olive branch in his talons. In the nest, a female and hatchling are awaiting his return. This design was created by sculptor Miley Busiek specifically for use on American Gold Eagle Coins in 1986.

The coins in this listing ship in plastic flips for protection during shipping and storage. All of these coins will ship directly to your door from our secure facility. These coins contain 91.67% gold by weight and contain exactly 1/2 Troy ounce of pure 22-karat gold. The rest of the coin is composed of copper and silver to make the coins more durable.
