Description
2014 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
The 2010s represented the most sustained decade of demand the American Gold Eagle Series has ever experienced. Mintage levels from 2010 to 2019 had a higher average than previous decades, but this did not evenly apply to all weights in the series. The 2014 issue fell in the middle of the average range for mintage. Right now, 2014 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available for purchase online.

Each 2014 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle offered here comes with a protective plastic flip. While the 2010s experienced a higher annual average in mintage for each weight than previous decades, not all coins were hitting new records each year. The 2014 1/2 oz Gold Eagle sold just 35,000 coins.
The final mintage for the 2014 1/2 oz Gold Eagle was the lowest this weight in the series had seen since 1991 when it set a record low of just 24,100 coins sold. Much of the demand and higher averages in the 2010s came from the 1/10 oz and 1 oz gold coins in the series.
In the obverse design of 2014 American Gold Eagle Coins, the mint features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ depiction of Liberty. This design from 1907 shows the full-length figure of Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The background includes the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays, and a ring of stars around the field.
For the reverse side of the 2014 1/2 oz Gold Eagles, you will find Miley Busiek’s original 1986 design for this series. This image shows a male eagle soaring above a nest as a female eagle guards the young hatchling within the nest.
