Each 2014 British 1 oz Gold Horse coin is inscribed with “Year of the Horse” along with the Chinese Character for ‘horse.’ The detail of the horse is quite stunning. The horse is in mid-stride upon a field of gold. Its lush tail and mane appear to blow in the wind. The level of design artistry is quite extraordinary in this coin and reflects the British Royal Mint’s continued devotion to excellence. The design for the coin was rendered by the artist Wuon-Gean Ho. The coin is also stamped with its one troy ounce of precious gold and .9999 gold purity. The obverse side of each coin depicts the regal profile of Elizabeth II in her tiara. This side also boasts stamps for the coin’s face value and the queen’s title.
