The 2014 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coin’s obverse features a profile view of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions for her title, the legal tender value and the year of mintage are also featured on this side which read “ELIZABETH II, 50 DOLLARS and 2014.”
The other side of the coin features a maple leaf at its center with the word “CANADA” stamped above it. The purity is indicated to either side of the leaf and reads “9999.” Underneath the Maple Leaf are the words “FINE GOLD” and “1 OZ OR PUR.” This is also the first year that the RCM started marking the coins with a special Maple Leaf Privy Mark as an added security feature.
