The Gold Krugerrand was introduced by the South African Mint in 1967 as a way to promote the country’s gold reserves to private buyers worldwide. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the South African Mint introduced a new Silver Krugerrand in 2017, as well as a special privy mark on its lineup of BU and Proof Gold Krugerrands.
