Description

2017 30 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coin (BU)

When investors look for reliable, government-backed gold and silver bullion to invest in, the Chinese Mint is often an attractive bet. The Chinese Panda series of bullion coins, available in gold and silver, are incredibly popular annual releases that have the added benefit of a collectability with new designs on the obverse each year. Today, the 2017 30 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coin is available.

Coin Highlights:

  • Ships individually in sealed plastic packaging or in sealed sheets of 10.
  • 35th anniversary of the Chinese Gold Panda coin program!
  • Contains 30 Grams (.9645 Troy oz) of .999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • Face value of ¥500 (Yuan) is fully backed by the People’s Bank of China.
  • Obverse bears a new Panda design.
  • Reverse includes the classic Temple of Heaven image.

Chinese Gold Panda coins aren’t like all of the other gold bullion annual releases. While some sovereign mints use the exact same design each year on both sides, the Chinese Mint uses only the same design motif on the obverse each year, with the reverse remaining the same in each release year.

The Giant Panda species of bears, herbivores found throughout south-central highlands of China, always feature on the obverse. However, the specific design set on this side of the coin is changed annually to focus on the panda species in a different light with each new release in the series. Only the 2001 and 2002 coins used the same design.

Each 2017 30 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coin available here is in BU condition. Coins in BU condition have no signs of wear and tear, though you may notice minor flaws ranging from breaks in the luster and spotted surfaces to contact marks as a result of striking the blanks during production.

On the obverse of the Chinese Gold Panda coin is an all-new design of the panda. Each year there is a new design, but certain features remain year after year. For example, the background field typically features a bamboo wall and the face value of the coin in Yuan is always listed on this side.

The reverse of the 2017 30 Gram Chinese Gold Panda coin includes the image of the Temple of Heaven. Located in south-central Beijing, the Temple of Heaven was built in the 15th century and is just one building in a larger complex of religious buildings and social gathering sites.

All Chinese Gold Panda Coins are produced by the Chinese Mint. Operating numerous mints throughout the country, the Chinese Mint does not use mint marks on any of its coins, making it impossible to identify the mint of origin for any of its products.
