The new Tudor Beasts Series from the Royal Mint follows in the format of the Queen’s Beast Series the mint issued from 2016 to 2021. In this collection, the various heraldic beasts from the famous Tudor Dynasty feature alongside various iterations of the Royal Arms and personal crests of figures from this dynasty. All of the 2022 1/4 oz British Gold Tudor Beasts Lion Coins are available to purchase online in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins arrive in individual plastic flips, unless purchased in select bulk figures. Multiples of 25 come with plastic tubes, while multiples of 500 coins come in a Monster Box. The box holds 20 tubes of 25 coins each. The Lion of England is the first design in the BU range of Tudor Beasts coins from the Royal Mint.
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of the 2022 British Gold Tudor Beasts Lion Coins. Her Majesty is shown here in the definitive fifth-generation design for British coins. Created in 2015 by Jody Clark, this effigy shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
In the reverse design of 2022 1/4 oz Gold Tudor Beasts Lion Coins, the Royal Mint offers a stirring image of the Lion of England. Here, the Lion of England supports the impaled arms of King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. Henry VIII was the second Tudor monarch and younger son of the founder of the Tudor Dynasty, Henry VII. Jane Seymour was King Henry VIII’s third wife and, reportedly, his favorite wife.
