Lady Liberty is on the obverse of the 2023 Proof American Gold Eagle Coin. The design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and revived by the US Mint in 1986 for the debut of this series. In this front-facing relief, Liberty marches toward the viewer with a torch and an olive branch.
An American bald eagle is found in the reverse field of the 2023 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle Coin. This image was recently introduced to the series in 2021 as part of the 35th anniversary of the series. Designed in 2020 by Jennie Norris, it is now the new standard reverse design for the collection.
