Description

2025 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin (BU)

Beyond its cultural symbolism, the kookaburra has played a practical role in Australian rural life, earning the nickname “farmers friend” for its habit of hunting snakes and other potentially dangerous creatures. This relationship between humans and kookaburras has fostered a deep respect among Australians, who often view the bird as both a protector and a reminder of their connection to the land. Since 1990, Perth Mint has celebrated the kookaburra’s role in Australian culture with the Silver Kookaburra Series. Right now, 2025 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins are available.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective plastic capsule!
  • 35th anniversary of the Australian Kookaburra!
  • Largest coin in the series!
  • Special inclusion of the 1990 Kookaburra design!
  • Unlimited mintage!
  • Contains 1 Kilo (32.15 Troy oz) of .9999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • Bears a face value of $30 (AUD) backed by the federal government of Australia.
  • Obverse includes King Charles III.
  • Reverse features a kookaburra in left-profile relief on a branch.

Each of the 2025 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed in protective plastic capsules for delivery and the 2025 release includes a privy circle with the original 1990 design for the debut of the Silver Kookaburra. There is an unlimited mintage for the 1 Kilo coin with production continuing until the end of 2025.

Perhaps the most captivating aspect of the kookaburra’s appearance is its expressive face, characterized by dark, alert eyes and what appears to be a perpetual “smile” created by its beak structure. The bird’s wings are relatively short and rounded, reflecting its hunting strategy of perching and swooping rather than engaging in long-distance flight, while its tail is fairly long and broad, helping it maintain balance during its precise hunting maneuvers.

In the obverse of 2025 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin, you will find a portrait of King Charles III. His Majesty is shown here in an effigy by Dan Thorne that serves as the first-generation bust of Charles III for Australian coins. This left-profile relief depicts His Majesty without a crown.

For the reverse design of 2025 1 Kilo Silver Kookaburras, the mint features a new depiction of the kookaburra in left-profile relief as it sits perched on a branch. Included on this side of the coin is the original design used in the series back in 1990.
