Description

Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coin MS63 (PCGS or NGC)

Customers: Please note these Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are either PCGS or NGC graded as MS63 condition. We will select coins from years 1839-1908 to fulfill your order based on our inventory.

The United States Mint produced the $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle coin from 1839 to 1908. The half eagle coins from this collection are among the few to have remained in acceptable condition. Each of these coins has been professionally examined and certified by either the NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation) or the PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) with an MS63 (Mint State 63) grade and a gold content of approximately .24187 troy oz. Coins of this grade are considered to be in worn, but decent condition with only a number of contact and hairline marks to their original luster. All coins have been individually packaged in their NGC or PCGS certified cases to preserve their graded mint state.

The Christian Gobrecht “Coronet” design featured on the front of the coin pulls its influence from classical Greco-Roman art. From her inscribed crown to her intricate hairstyle, Lady Liberty has been depicted much like the goddesses seen in ancient paintings and sculptures. Other classical aesthetics include the thirteen stars and mintage date, which encircle her in a way that resembles the border of text found on early Greek and Roman currency.

The reverse side proudly displays a more contemporary image with the Great Seal of the United States. This iconic emblem is composed of an eagle spreading his wings while holding a shield, an olive branch and a set of arrows. Our nation’s name hovers over his head in an arched pattern. Because of minor design changes during its mintage, the printed text that appears on the coin will vary according to its mintage date. One such change is the text indicating the coin’s value, which can be printed as either “5 D.” or as “Five D.” Another small change concerns the “In God We Trust” motto, which will only appear on coins minted after 1866.

This rare and stunning piece of currency will be a valuable addition to any investment or coin collection. As a courtesy to our customers, all packages are shipped free of charge. We also provide insurance against theft, loss, or damage at no extra cost.
